Mufti Raihan Jamil Sells Beef for Only 1 Taka per KG

Nazmul Hasan Nirob, Faridpur Correspondent:
In an extraordinary act of compassion, Mufti Raihan Jamil, an independent candidate for the Faridpur-4 (Bhanga–Sadar upazila–Charbhadrasan) constituency and a well-known businessman, has sold beef at only 1 Taka per kilogram to impoverished and underprivileged families.
On Thursday (October 30) afternoon, he went door to door across different villages and highways in Bhanga upazila, personally handing out one-kilogram packets of beef to struggling families. The initiative brought tears of joy to many who had not been able to afford meat for months.
A young man named Akter Hossain, overwhelmed with emotion, said,
“Raihan Jamil Bhai is an extraordinary person. He always does what he says. After so long, I can finally have beef with my family — it feels like a dream.”
Van driver Akkas Molya shared his gratitude, saying,
“I haven’t eaten beef in six months. Today, someone handed me a packet of meat while I was driving my van. I was so surprised and happy. May Allah bless him.”
Housewife Parveen Akter added,
“My husband works as a mason, and there’s hardly any work most of the month. We last ate beef during Eid-ul-Adha. Today, we’ll finally be able to eat meat again. May Allah reward this kind-hearted man.”
An elderly van driver, Sheikh Rahim, said with a smile,
“I heard he once sold hilsa fish for only 10 Taka. Today he gave beef for 1 Taka! I won’t work today — I’ll go home, cook the meat, and enjoy it with my family.”
Speaking to reporters, Mufti Raihan Jamil said,
“The price of beef has become so high that poor families can rarely afford it except during Eid. I wanted to bring smiles to their faces by selling it at 1 Taka per kg. Earlier, I sold rice at 2 Taka per kg, eggs at 10 Taka per dozen, and hilsa fish at 10 Taka apiece. InshaAllah, I will continue such humanitarian initiatives in the future.”
He added,
“Doing good often comes with challenges, but I won’t stop working for people’s welfare. My goal is to make sure no one goes hungry.”
Throughout the day, local volunteers and young social workers helped distribute the beef. Locals said Mufti Raihan Jamil has earned a place in people’s hearts — not just as a political candidate, but as a truly humane and compassionate individual.
